Allison Sudradjat was a public servant and diplomat who led Australia’s emergency response to the Indian Ocean Tsunami and reconstruction effort in Aceh. She was previously posted in Papua New Guinea.

Ms Sudradjat was later appointed head of the Australian development program in Indonesia. She died tragically on 7 March 2007 when her flight crashed near Yogyakarta.

The Allison Sudradjat Prize was established in her honour and is awarded to six outstanding Australia Awards scholarship recipients from Indonesia and Papua New Guinea each year.

In March 2017, it will be 10 years since Allison Sudradjat died tragically in a plane crash in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, where she was preparing for a visit to several Australian aid programs. Allison was a dedicated diplomat, aid worker and humanitarian, and is remembered for her compassion and commitment to improving the lives of men and women in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
